Joining the Church
Have you thought about responding in faith to Jesus Christ by becoming a member of this congregation? While discipleship is an exciting, life-long adventure involving every part of ourselves, the journey begins with your positive response to the following four questions:
- Do you turn from the ways of sin and renounce evil and its power in the world?
- Do you turn to Jesus Christ and accept him as your Lord and Savior?
- Will you be Christ’s faithful disciple, obeying his Word and showing his grace and love?
- Will you be a faithful member of this congregation, share in its worship and ministry?
The process of becoming a member of First United Presbyterian Church begins with a conversation with the pastor. Following that conversation a time will be set up to meet with the church’s governing body (the Session). It is the Session that receives individuals into membership. Following your reception by the Session, you will be introduced to the congregation during a Sunday morning worship service on a Sunday of your choosing.
