Worship Services

Office Hours

At 1UPC, we welcome all persons who desire to see Jesus more clearly, love him more dearly, and follow him more nearly to participate in Holy Communion. This looks different during recent days, because we don't want to spread the coronavirus to anyone! During in-person worship we use self-contained "cups" which contain both a wafer and juice. During online services, we invite persons to provide their own elements--bread and wine, a cracker and juice, a cookie and milk--whatever might be available. All are welcome!

We experience Communion ("The Lord’s Supper") as a glorious feast around the Table of the Lord to which all followers of Jesus are invited. Access to the Table is not a right awarded to those “good enough” or to those who “understand what’s going on” in the sacrament; rather, the invitation to the Table is “…a privilege given to the undeserving who come in faith, repentance, and love…. Even one who doubts or whose trust is wavering may come to the Table in order to be assured of God’s love and grace in Christ Jesus” (Book of Order, W-2.4011-a).

If you or someone you know desires "home communion" during this time of physical distancing, please contact the church office. Pastor Randy will call you back and plan a convenient time to celebrate the Sacrament with you in a way that emphasizes your safety in the midst of the pandemic and in a manner comfortable for you. Again, all are welcome to request "home communion," not just members of the church.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Randy Lubbers
